My name is Sergio Medina-Caro and I was given the honor of being part of the first internship provided by Luster National Inc. This was my first internship, and I did not know what to expect. With that being said, the Luster team was extremely helpful when it came to onboarding and getting me started on my internship journey.

While in my internship, I learned how engineering, construction management, and business all go hand in hand. I also learned how to work with engineers and the step-by-step process that goes along with a construction project. I learned that all the tools you will need as a future engineer do not all come from the classroom and experience is required to truly get an understanding of the business. I learned that internships are necessary for students to see what their future field entails of. My favorite thing about Luster was how it was very involved with their employees. This consisted of a family-like environment along with providing all tools necessary to create a successful individual.

Luster National was an amazing company to work for. I hope to one day be a part of the Luster National team again. My future, moving forward, consists of taking my Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) and Professional Engineering (PE) exams while in school. I will continue my undergraduate journey and will obtain my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Afterwards, I will pursue a Master’s degree in Business Administration. I hope to one day start my own engineering firm and make major changes to my community and the world.
