Press Release: Luster Wellness Program
MILL VALLEY, CA. (July 27, 2021)
As the Wellness Manager for Luster National Inc (LUSTER), a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), and certified health coach (CHC), I have developed and implemented a hands-on, company-wide Wellness Program that incentivizes Luster Team Members to engage in healthy behaviors. Through health education presentations, personal wellness counseling, and wellness challenges, Luster Team Members learn about the pillars of living a healthy lifestyle.
Luster’s Wellness Program includes a series of Wellness Activities that Team Members can participate in to earn for rewards. Activities include:
Personalized Nutrition Counseling
Wellness Challenges
Monthly Wellness Office Hours
Weekly Health Emails
The Wellness Program is designed to encourage Team Members to engage in healthy behaviors over an extended period of time – turning these new behaviors into habit.
The benefits of a wellness program are substantial for both employer and employee. A study from the School of Public Health at Harvard University found that for every dollar spent on wellness programs, medical costs fall $3.27 and absenteeism costs by $2.73. Wellness programs can be implemented at a low cost, ranging from $36 to $450 per year per employee, depending on program selections. Wellness programs boost morale, productivity, and retention, and can be a draw for potential employees. Employees are happier, healthier, and feel appreciated.
As a dietitian and certified health coach, I have training in health topics, behavior change, and wellness education. As a member of the AEC community, I understand the busy lifestyles of its employees. Merging this knowledge, I have created a successful wellness program for LUSTER. I am interested in sharing my expertise and knowledge with other companies who share a passion for workplace wellness through a Wellness Training Program. This program will include a curriculum that trains company well- ness coaches (HR, office managers, or an individual particularly interested in wellness). The curriculum will include:
Training (in-person or distance) and materials for company wellness coaches:
Wellness topics (basic nutrition, stress management, and physical activity)
Behavior change
Logistics of starting and administering a wellness program
Templates for program surveys and activities
Wellness Office Hours PowerPoint presentations (Click here to view a sample)
With LUSTER providing a comprehensive wellness program curriculum and program materials, employees who have no formal health training can deliver wellness information to their company in a personalized way.
